Scrapping4fun GDT - Seasons Spring or Autumn

Hello Everyone!

I am excited to be here today as a guest designer for the fabulous challenge blog Scrapping4fun! This fortnight we have a photo challenge for you. Get ready for Challenge #27 - Seasons - SPRING OR AUTUMN!

I will show you the inspiration photos in just a minute, but first here is my card.

Here are the inspiration photos that they provided. You can choose either one! Aren't they gorgeous!

As you can see, I decided to go for the autumn photograph. I was really inspired by the white fog and the frosty mountains in the background. It reminds me of that first frost of the year when all the leaves are still on the trees and everything has this white coating on it, it's such a beautiful sight.

The fern is made out of crafter's clay and a Martha Stewart mold. It was coloured with Tim Holtz distress inks and touched off with some copper embossing powder and white embossing puffs.

For the background I mounted a piece of burlap on some cardboard and gave it some swipes of Gesso. Then I used some texture paste coloured with DecoArt Burnt Umber Crafter's Acrylic Paint (tutorial here) and a Prima Damask stencil. I covered the paste with Ranger Copper embossing powder.

The clock was cut out using Tim Holtz Weathered Clock die and then I antiqued it with a half dozen embossing powders and distress inks. Sorry, I can't be more specific, I was working the Tim Holtz Effect Powder technique and I just kept adding and adding until I got the look I was after.

The leaf charms are made out of crafter's clay and a Martha Stewart mold. I used a quilting needle to punch holes in them and then threaded them onto jump rings. They received the same treatment as the fern.

My panel of white birch is done by inking up a piece of paper with Tim Holtz distress inks Gathered Twigs, Antique Linen and Brushed Corduroy. I used some home-made white texture paste and the Crafter's Workshop Woodgrain stencil. I lightly swiped my Versamark pad across the panel and added white embossing powder and white embossing puffs to complete the look.

The leaves were stamped with Inkadinkado Decomposed Foliage and Ranger Copper embossing powder. They were coloured with distress inks Rusty Hinge, Gathered Twigs, Wild Honey and Aged Mahogany. I spritzed them with water to add to the decomposed look.

Some orange paint splatters, bronze embellishments and charms, canvas ribbon, crafter's rope, twine and wooden beads to complete my autumn outdoorsie look.

That's it for today. Thank you for stopping in and for all the amazing comments. I read and appreciate every single one! If you have any questions, please let me know.

It is always a pleasure to view your lovely work! This is just perfect! I was just looking at some photos from a trip we took to the mountains in the fall, and then somehow ended up right here. It was hard to tell where the mountains ended and your card began! You have truly captured the essence of autumn with every little detail! I could go on and on, but it is time to wake the family up and get this day started. Thank you SO MUCH for sharing your lovely work...you are a blessing! Foggy hugs! Sara Emily
