Gilded Birthday Wishes with Video

Hello Everyone!

I have a special treat today for a very dear bloggy friend. This was the card I sent her for her birthday, and now that it has arrived safely, I can go ahead and share it with you. This lady is such a talented gal and a huge inspiration to me. Her work is original and breathtaking, and I am just so honoured to call her a friend.

She is always telling me that she wishes she could be a fly on my craft room wall to watch how I put my cards together, so I thought I would video her card being made. I hope you enjoy this my friend!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SARA EMILY!!!!
Please visit Sara HERE and give her some birthday wishes!

Here we go with the video. Sara, make sure you watch it right to the very end my friend!! Thank you to everyone for your support. If you have any questions, drop me a comment at YouTube. Hugs

In the absence of all things winter, I have decided to aim my camera upward and take notice of some of the amazing textures that trees have to offer.

Snow or no snow, one thing I have to admit about winter time...the sunrises are freaking incredible, and with the big tree in front of my balcony completely bare of leaves, I can see it clearly!!

A very sad moment for me this week when sweet little Brenda showed up with half her tail missing! I know how harsh nature can be and I know that I need to be prepared for bad things to happen to my extended family members because nature is a ravage, unforgiving beast!! My head may understand that theory, my heart however...does not! My heart broke just a little bit, and I sat with Brenda for quite a while making sure she had as many peanuts and sunflower seeds as she could eat.

On the less depressing side of things, please take note of the scaredy-cat below. What is she hiding from I wonder? Could it be a big scary monster in the closet, or perhaps it's the boogie man under the couch...NOPE, IT'S THE SWIFFER DUSTER!!! I mean seriously Scully, what's that about!!!!

That's it for today. Thank you for stopping in and for all the amazing comments. I read and appreciate every single one! If you have any questions, please let me know.

Frilly and Funkie - Enjoy your Embossing

Hello Everyone,

It's time for another challenge over at Frilly and Funkie. The lovely and talented Jenny is our hostess and she has chosen the theme "ENJOY YOUR EMBOSSING". She would like you to make a vintage or shabby chic project of your choice, just remember to include some embossing. Use your favourite embossing methods (wet, dry, heat, or any other techniques you want to share) - just enjoy your embossing! One lucky winner will receive a $25 gift certificate to Linda's shop The Funkie Junkie Boutique!

For the background I dabbed some Ranger Perfect Medium on the Tim Holtz Regal Flourishes EMBOSSING folder and ran it through my Cuttlebug, then I added some Ranger clear EMBOSSING powder and heated it up. I spritzed some Distress spray inks Spun Sugar and Victorian Velvet onto my craft sheet then smooshed the panel into it. Once dry, I swiped a dab of Gathered Twigs across the top to highlight some of the areas.

The fancy circles are from Spellbinders, which I die cut and EMBOSSED. I stamped them with the IndigoBlu Vintage Flourish and Gathered Twigs, then I added some Brass Liquid Pearls around the outside. The base is stamped with the smaller flourish stamp from the Tim Holtz Fabulous Flourishes set.

The butterfly is from the Sizzix Limitations stamp and die set. I heat EMBOSSED it on vellum and then gold EMBOSSED the edges of two Heirloom roses for the body. The bronze corners are from Linda's shop. I heat EMBOSSED them with Ranger Detail Gold embossing powder.

So it snowed for about 5 minutes the other night. Not long enough to collect on the ground, but long enough for me to have some play time with my new zoom lens. I'm still working on how to steady the camera without using the tri-pod, but I got a few eerie snowy shots in. It's especially difficult to focus with all the movement of the snow and the wind, so I was happy with these.

So my little friend Karen has decided that she doesn't want to wait until feeding time any more. When she's hungry, she just comes a knockin', and if I don't answer right away, she crawls up the screen and peers inside to get my attention. It's so freaking hilarious.

"Pardon me Madam, but may I have a peanut?"

"Hello, Miss...are you there? I'm getting a little hungry and a lot impatient!"

"FOR THE LOVE OF PETE, WOMAN!! WHAT'S A GIRL GOTTA DO TO GET SOME FREAKIN' LUNCH!"

Oh Karen, it's like dinner AND a show!  Here's an extra peanut.

That's it for today. Thank you for stopping in and for all the amazing comments. I read and appreciate every single one! If you have any questions, please let me know.
