Merry & Bright...Mostly Bright!

Hello Everyone!

Here again with another Christmas card today. I'm almost all caught up with these this year, although I only actually posted a few of the 54 that I have so far...eek! The colours on this one were inspired by my super talented friend KATHY CLEMENT of Kathy By Design.  I really recommend you go give her a visit, her style and creativity is unique and incredible!!

For the background I used the emboss resist technique with a BoBunny script stamp and snowflake stamp from the Powder Mountain set. I used Memento London Fog and Archival ink Watering Can. The red tag was stamped with some Tim Holtz snowflake stamps and some white pigment ink, then I lightly sprinkled some white embossing powder so some areas would be a brighter white.

The striped paper is from Canvas Corp Basics, the snowflakes are from Penny Black, the round sentiment is from Joy Crafts, the snow and glitter are from DecoArt, the Dove is Recollections and I covered it with Stardust Stickles and the shaped die layers are from Spellbinders.

I am entering the following wonderful challenges:

***

So I thought I would share a few photos from the Christmas Fair on Friday. It was mostly set up for kids, but I suppose that's how it's supposed to be at Christmas time. There were lots of lights, Christmas trees and a group of local kids put on a show...it was the cutest darned thing!! I saw a real reindeer, watched the Merry Go Round, and a Christmas cookie the size of my head!! What a hoot!

I thought this sign was kind of amusing! We had a fake tree in the city, it was just easier that way, but you can't beat the smell of a real tree! Do you use a fake tree or a real tree????

That's it for today. Thank you for stopping in and for all the amazing comments. I read and appreciate every single one! If you have any questions, please let me know.

  1. Beautiful card, Pamellia! I think I've made a grand total of 5 cards==need to set up the pace! Lovely photos. Nothing beats a real tree but you can leave the fake ones up longer.

  2. I can't imagine doing 54 cards! Wow! I usually do between 20 and 26 and am trying to cut this down! LOL

I'm loving the bright red on this card with the sparkly snow, and sweet little dove image. What a wonderful night at the Fair - my fav pics are the close up of the carousel horses.

  3. What a festive card Pamellia! Wow 54 cards!!! I don't make cards that I send out for Christmas, only a very few select get the hand made ones, this year I truly made a very small #...anyways, your card looks great and I like the layering you did with this one!

  4. Texture, colour and dimension, this has it all Pamellia and I am really liking that deeper shade of red.

Fake or real - well I'm Bah Humbug this year and neither so far. We do have a new replacement 8" illuminated blossom tree to go up in the courtyard as son in law backed over the previous one with the tractor a few weeks ago, but we have had constant rain for a week so not weather for doing outside electrical work. And we are not home for Christmas so seemed little point putting a real one up indoors, so as I said the original Bah Humbug this year.

    1. Actually Brenda, that sounds quite lovely. Our new place doesn't have room for a full sized tree, so next year I plan to put the fake tree outside on the balcony and light it up!! hugs :)

  8. wow can't imagine making 54 cards especially if they are all as detailed and beautiful as this one . Your attention to little details amazes me . I developed tendinitis in my wrist from painting so haven't been crafting much this past week and I miss it . I love the real tree but have been putting up an Artificial one for several years now . Beautiful photos .

  12. What a wonderful snowy card - so pretty in the red and maroon and not a speck of blue in sight!!?? What a fun Christmas event - great photos! we always had a real tree until just a few years ago when the trees were starting to cost $50 or more and didn't even smell like pine (which was why I loved real trees!) so we bought a beautiful already lit fake tree that looks wonderfully real- and wasn't very expensive! and I burn a pine scented candle in the room!!

    1. Sounds wonderful Julia. We just found it quite a hassle with all the needles everywhere and the dogs being covered in sap...not worth it. I love the idea of pine scented candles, might try that one!! hugs :)

  15. Gorgeous card. Love the colour palette, the fabulous layout and all the pretty snowflakes.

I have a really nice fake tree because real trees are way too expensive, tend to drop needles despite all efforts to keep it watered and can be such a fire hazard. The scent of pine was never a real turn on for me but I love to burn spicy scented candles.

  21. Bright AND beautiful Pamellia, love the candy cane colours here and, as usual, the texture is to die for!! We have a 7'6" tree in our sitting room...fake but very realistic (I wouldn't want Suzy the dog getting needles in her paws) and the aroma is still there with the help of Yankee Candles!! xx

  22. A really different and delicious colourway today Pamellia. I love the 2 tones of red with the silver...fab card.Your fair looked great fun and I so agree re trees, to me the only tree to have is a real one...and we are greedy and have 2. Get those cards posted soon! Hugs xx

  23. Oh wow, what a stunning card, Pamellia!! I absolutely adore the colors!! The layers and dimension are amazing!! The bird is so beautiful!! I love every single thing about it!! Another jaw-dropping beauty my friend!! And the pictures are so gorgeous!! What a beautiful place to live!! I love all of the lights!! The reindeer are so awesome!! I used to live near a reindeer farm in upstate New York and I always loved driving by :) I would prefer a live Christmas tree but sadly, I take the easy way out with a fake that already has the lights on and everything. Can't get much easier than that ;) I hope you have a wonderful day my friend!! Big hugs :)

  24. Hi Pamellia! Gorgeous card! I love the layers! The Christmas Fair looks like fun. I love all of the activities this time of the year. I was at Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago for the Zoo Lights over the weekend and it was beautiful, but extremely crowded. We tried to make do with the situation, but there were too many people and by the time it's dark, the animals are sleeping. Anyway, I TOO LOVE that sign, LOL! As for trees, they've always been fake. Nothing wrong with real trees, I'm just used to the fake pre-lit trees. Have a wonderful week!

  32. The reds and white are so perfect together, the red gives the warmth and the white give a lovely frosty feeling. A truly beautiful festive card!

I always love your photos, the ones of the lights are wonderful and the reindeer are so, so beautiful! We have a fake tree these days, the real ones never seem to keep the needles for very long and I do love a very long Christmas! We get some 'sticks' that smell of pine , you just put them on a couple of branches and change them once a week. People who visit are often fooled that our tree is not real. Hugs, Anne xx

  57. Your card is reminding me of a Peppermint Mocha! delicious and you always want more! So fun and yummy. Loves it!

As for the tree-I go fake every year. My animals stay sap free and the needles stay put. The pine scent isn't anything I miss as I usually burn a Grandmas Cookies Scentsy candle instead. My Steampunk tree will hopefully be done next year! Yippee! Hugz to you Bubbles! ~Doc

  59. Beautiful card, Pamellia! I love that color combination- the red really makes a gorgeous pop against those frosty layers, but the burgundy layer just steals my heart!

Enjoyed the photos of the fair; what a light show! Sweet reindeer; I wonder if he was petrified among all those people!

Real tree, and this year I didn't sneeze one bit! I guess it's the mildew on trees that have been sitting on the lot too long that I'm allergic to, not the tree itself. Ours had lots of sap this year, but not many needles falling yet, so I guess it's fresh!

    Merry Christmas! Hugs!

Thanks for sharing pictures of your lovely town. It looks so festive. We have always had a real tree ... and again this year, but hubby and I talked today about having an artificial for next year. That way it can be put up earlier and enjoyed longer. I do love the smell of a real tree, but not the mess. :) Luckily we have two cedar trees in our backyard, so I could cut some bows for inside and have that same lovely smell next year. :) xx

  66. Oh good grief - get over it - 54 cards is nothing..... but MIRACULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously - it would take me a million years to make 55 cards. Hello - remember - this is me who was proud to make 12 tags in one YEAR????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dear me... I am struggling to make ONE - just ONE card or something small for one of my challenge blogs and it can't even be cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Imagine that.

Heheheheheheh - sorry Pamellia - you have so many comments here I just had to spice things up a bit!!! Although most of what I said it totally true!!!! Hehehehehehe!!! Your card is so fun. The bright Christmasy colors are fun but elegant and unique too.

I do have to say that the horses on your towns carousel looks more scary than the trees in the dark though!!!!!!!!!!! They all looked like they were going to bite someone!!!!! Loved seeing the pictures - so fun. And those snowflakes on the trees just could not be prettier. We have always had a fake tree - for all the reasons already stated!! It's just the two of us though so we don't even put it up any more at our house. Down on the ranch end of things where the conference center and cottages reside - there are lots of fake trees! I love your idea of putting one outside next year - can't wait to see your balcony next year - you have me curious!!! I thought it looked great this year!!! Oh me... now I'm rambling.... hope I made you smile!!! Hugs. j.

  73. I am sorry, I am playing catch up again. The run up to Christmas has been so busy this year. I made about 70 cards in the summer and thought that would be enough but once I started writing my cards I realised that I was 40 or so short!

Thank goodness my cards are not as beautifully detailed as your, I really would love to make cards with all of this amazing detail but I suspect only 3 pf my friends would receive a card from me. I love the combination of the port wine colour and silver, they look amazing together and all of the frost and snow are just so lush.

I am too late to wish yo a happy Christmas but I can wish you a very happy New Year and hope that 2016 presents you with some new and exciting opportunities.
